Anchors Series - Rituals a Way to Create [3]

Lost From Our Living Memory Is The Art And Beauty Of Ritual. Just as we have become separated from nature and increasingly people, our separation from ritual has not served our greater good. We have unwittingly forgone the support of natures intelligence losing touch with the mysteries of the universe - the unseen but ever present energy that comprises all that is.

Ritual is a word of old. Perhaps it’s been maligned for many shy away from the word and thus miss the experience of making a deeper connection to all that is. I have often said about my life "I had the experience but missed the meaning" given most of my life I have felt buffered by my experiences. Discovering I had a say in the manner my life was lived was a long wait. It was not until my crone years that I realised their were an array of practices to avail one selves of in order to both anchor oneself and pave the way towards creation.

Creation is boundless with ritual one of many ways to support your endeavours. The art of ritual come to us when we begin to respect the unseen and express a desire to work with the universe to create.

The power of ritual lays in the dedication of space in which to create. In coaching we call it 'holding the space' to allow for what needs to be voiced. The art of ritual is about bringing beauty into your dedicated space. A cloth, candle or flower - anything that brings you joy. Sound is another dimension using your voice or singing bowls. Ritual and ceremony go hand in hand.

You bring to ritual your personal energy and your desire to make an occasion special the same way you bring your energy into giving a gift or spending time with a friend. Ritual thus is something we do whether we realise it or not. The difference is when we bring our consciousness to ritual by establishing a special space, we are aligning ourselves with the mysteries of the universe.

Rituals are a way of harnessing our energy and directing our thoughts towards something particular. More familiar to many is the word 'intention'. When we set an intention we alert our higher self to what interests us most at a particular time. When we keep our intentions alive through daily thinking we attract what we think about. We find that we are naturally led to people, places, books, colours, designs all of which bring out ‘ideas’ into being.

Can you think of something you have created and brought into being, whereby all unfolded given your intention to make it happen? If this is a new concept to you try it. Think of something as a possibility, something within your sphere of control and see what eventuates. The stronger the resonance the more often you will ‘see’ what is relevant to you. You can thus discover for yourself how rituals which are essentially an ongoing practice of placing your attention into what you care deeply about can serve you.

In practicing the art of ritual we enter into our heart space - a heart that wants to serve you as much as it wants to serve others.
